This card is for my husband for his birthday .  The layout was inspired by the Pals Paper Art Sketch this week.

Okay first off, I realize that the picture is awful.  I was in a hurry to get this posted before church and over slept today.  That is what I get for not doing this last night!

SO, I had to make another birthday card or this week, and I love the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I decided to use more neutral colors and DSP and then the “popping pastel” technique to color in my image.  I was going for a softer look.  I hope you enjoy

I then saw the sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday and thought I could use this for her!

My results:

So, normally I try to do goody bags, or something for the kids’ Valentine Day parties.  I always feel bad that I never take the day off work to be there to help out, but that kind of goes with balancing a schedule of working and all that fun stuff.  A few years back I made candy packets for my kids, letting each one pick out what kind they wanted to give with their cards.  Some years it has been suckers, others the little mini matchbox.  This year, I was in a time crunch of having to make other things for their class party, that I put their candy portion off till last minute.  The result: a sour cream candy container.  I had to make 50 of these, and this was absolutely the quickest container to make 50 in one sitting!

I also had to use all retired supplies.  I realized that the heart stamp set that I had and is current did not work with the large heart punch.  I also didn’t get the one out of the mini as I have 4 Valentine stamp sets.  (yes 2 are retired but my kids still pick those out!)

Anyways, I used the DSP from last year and this stamp to help make 50 candy containers for the kids to pass out with their cards!

This card was made for my Hubby and was inspired by Sunny Challenges & Creations Sketch this week:

Now, I won’t let him use the cutter I have for the fabric or my fabric glue because it would end up a bigger mess that what it needs to be.  Esp. with him working in my craft room and not at the table with placemats or table cloths.  Here is his finished product side view:

 He placed rhinestone jems on each corner of the butterfly wings. He also made a point to have the butterflys facing certain ways.  He wanted them to look like they were talking to each other, and picked out the candy hearts to be the words they were using to each other.

The top of his box, he has a smaller butterfly heading towards the center of the box where the hole is for the cards to go into.  He wanted it to look like it was flying into it’s home.  He finished it off with his name on top and each side decorated with a single heart sticker surrounded by more pink rhinestones. 

The only challenge will be when he wants to get into the box to get out all his goodies.  HOPEFULLY there will not be anything too big to fit into the hole.  I know him well enough to know that if something happens, then he will spend more time trying to fix it, then looking at what he may receive that day.

I wanted to do the Friday Mashup with the spotlight, but having to make 24 of of these, I just kept it to the penguins!

So the other card that I made is this one:

I love the new Heart Emboslit die.  I had so much fun playing with the hearts that when I saw the sketch from Stampin 411, I knew that it would be perfect to use the hearts, sketch, and make one more of the cards that I needed.  I also added little pearls as accents.

I used the smooch spritz on the hearts and the pearls to help add a little accent.  Now keep in mind I have all men/ boys to make cards for…so they aren’t really the “frilly” type!
